Project Description

This series of advertisements was created for San Francisco’s Sex Offender Management Alliance; a coalition of law enforcement, health services, and child advocacy groups created to better address and manage problems related to sexual assault. One of the organization’s ongoing problems is fighting the popular public perception of “Stranger Danger”—the belief that victims, particularly children, are most likely to be assaulted or abducted by a stranger or casual acquaintance. In reality the vast majority of sex crimes are committed by someone well known to the victim, so this series of PSAs was created to challenge how people perceive those relative risks.

The ad campaign ran on buses and trains throughout San Francisco’s MUNI transit system.
